You are taking the most important first step in supporting your child.

Frequently Asked Questions
We do not operate out of a physical building. All of our services are teletherapy only, so all Lucine Center employees work out of their homes.
We tailor our treatments to each individual child, so it is hard to say how long treatment lasts. However, most of our evidence-based treatments range from 8 weeks to 24 weeks or longer (again, depending on the needs of the client).
We like to involve caregivers in the treatment as much as possible. Some sessions incorporate the caregiver/parent for half of the session. Other sessions only require that the caregiver be there for the last ten minutes or so. We believe it is important for caregivers to understand what we’re working on in therapy in order to ensure that the skills that are being taught in session translate to interactions at home.
Our clinicians are available to meet with clients from 9:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Yes, we offer our clinical services in Spanish.
We are not an urgent care facility, so if your child is experiencing severe distress requiring an urgent appointment, please go to your local emergency room.
We do not have any psychiatrists who work within the Lucine Center, although we are happy to make referrals to child psychiatrists in the community if the need for medication is indicated.
The Lucine Center is committed to making trauma and grief services accessible. Regular session rates for self-pay clients are as follows: Initial assessments (generally 2 hours) are $500 and Psychotherapy sessions (generally 45-50 minutes) are $220.
If the above rates are not financially feasible, we are able to offer financial assistance based upon need.
- Reduced Rates (Sliding Scale): If you are unable to pay the full standard fee, you have the option to apply for a reduced rate (sliding scale). Qualification is determined based on factors including household income and size. You will be asked to complete a separate Financial Assistance Application and provide the requested supporting documentation for review. If approved, you will be formally notified of your agreed-upon reduced session fee, which must be paid at the time of service. This agreement is subject to periodic review and renewal.
- Grant-Funded Services: The Lucine Center for Trauma and Grief periodically receives funding through grants to cover the full expense of teletherapy services for qualifying clients (e.g., individuals who were impacted by the Central Texas flooding). If you are approved for a grant, your financial responsibility for the covered services will be fully waived for the duration and scope defined by the grant. You will be formally notified of the grant's terms and coverage period.
A Good Faith Estimate, which includes the expected cost, will be provided to you prior to initiating services.
