Gregory Gomez is a Licensed Master Social Worker who has 20 years of experience working with children and adolescents through education, research, and therapy. Gregory serves as a clinician at The Lucine Center, providing virtual assessment and treatment for traumatized and bereaved youth. He also provides in-person group interventions to similar populations within school settings. Gregory has received training in evidence-based, trauma- and bereavement-
informed assessment and interventions which he delivers for Lucine clients. He is committed to effective care using a scientist-practitioner approach, with his own research focusing on the grief reactions and ambiguous loss experienced by children with incarcerated parents.

Gregory started his career as a middle school science teacher in South Los Angeles. In his teaching and principal roles that followed, he continued working toward educational opportunities for underseen students and their families. Prior to joining the Lucine Center, Gregory was Director of Policy and Programs at Leadership ISD in Houston, Texas. There he worked with civic and business leaders to support public education in the areas of governance, school finance, racial equity, and mental health.

Gregory earned his BA in Biology from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. He received a Master’s in Education from the University of Notre Dame, his MSW from the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work, and is nearing completion of his PhD in Social Work from the University of Houston. Gregory enjoys cooking for his wife and their two boys.
