Rohanna has over 20 years of experience in public education, focusing on student mental health and wellness. Prior to joining the Lucine Center, Rohanna worked at the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute’s Center for Child and Family Wellness, where she trained school district leaders in the implementation of a comprehensive school mental health system, provided technical assistance and training to district leaders to evaluate their programs and practices for supporting students' social, emotional, and behavioral health needs, as well as fostered collaborative relationships with statewide agencies and regional education service center school mental health leads. Rohanna previously served
as the Project AWARE State Coordinator at Texas Education Agency, where she worked with partner agencies, internal and external stakeholders, education service centers, and school district leaders to implement initiatives to increase the school mental health infrastructure, including the facilitation of evidence-based, school mental health practices for students, families, and educators.

Rohanna started her career as a kindergarten teacher, then became an Elementary School Counselor and High School Related Services Counselor, where she worked with students to address their mental, emotional, and behavioral needs. Her passionate pursuit for influencing positive changes in student mental health support and academic achievement in Texas was highlighted by her being appointed twice by Governor Abbott as the Counselor Representative for the State Board for Educator Certification and serving as Vice Chair of the Board. Rohanna was also recognized by the Texas Counseling Association by receiving the 2022 John Shirley Advocacy Award and the 2013 Dr. Jamesanna Kirvin Outstanding Counselor Award.

Rohanna completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology-Cum Laude from the University of Houston and her Master’s in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and Certified School Counselor. Rohanna is a native Houstonian who is married to her high school sweetheart and has three children (and a husky). In her personal time, Rohanna enjoys reading books, cheering on the Houston Astros, listening to podcasts, and traveling.
